Tree Farm Visit - November 6th, 8:00 am

The Kringle's Korner Tree Lot committee suggested that some of us should visit the tree supplier. Ken, Michael and I left the safe confines of the city and ventured to the HRD tree farm (Alpine "U" Cut) in Belfair, WA. Belfair is west of Gorst and past the Bremerton National Airport. Ken was not impressed with the Bremerton National Airport. I suppose, because it doesn't have international flights.

Jerry Reid is the owner of the tree farm. He's a great fellow and really knows his trees. He has worked with the group for many years. We are in very capable hands. He has a U-cut tree business if you are inclined to cut your own tree, and you want to drive to Belfair.

Jerry drove us around the tree farm in his big comfortable old Buick. A Kitsap County church group that is also selling trees this season, followed in a big crew cab pickup. Jerry would stop at a stand of trees. We would get out of the car. The Church group would get out of the big crew cab pickup. (it was really big) Jerry would then describe the tree variety. Then, it was on to the next one until we had seen all of the following trees: Western White Pine, Norway Spruce, Noble Fir, Fraser Fir, Grand Fir, Shasta and Douglas Fir. Most trees are sheared. However, he does keep some natural.

On our way home, we wondered if the church people discussed us, like we discussed them.

We stopped for brunch at Kelly's Cafe and Espresso in Gig Harbor on the way home. The food was delicious especially after a grueling drive around the well manicured woods.

The weather was very gray, but the rain held off until we finished the tour.
Here are a few photos of trees.

Natural Douglas Fir - We think it will be a big seller with the "natural" Seattleites
